The Impact of Randy Douthit

When CNN was still very young, Randy Douthit joined the network as a director and executive producer of “Crossfire,” the most popular program on the network at the time. Additionally, he developed the regular news chat show “Capital Gang.” CableAce Awards were won by Capital Gang and Crossfire.

Randy was the creator, executive producer, and director of the Peabody Award-winning primetime Larry King Live in 1985. Later, he joined Quincy Jones Entertainment, in which he spearheaded the production of the smash hit primetime sitcom “Fresh Prince of Bel Air.”

Then he met Judy Sheindlin. He first oversaw the iconic judicial reality TV show, Judge Judy, featuring Judy Sheindlin, for over 20 years. And then worked on her second hit with the new show Judy Justice. He was also the director and executive producer of both shows and had success with them. Then the pandemic hit.

Like other industries, television production was seriously impacted by the pandemic. Many programs postponed filming, and the ones that went ahead had to adopt new health measures to minimize the spread of COVID-19 including masks or vaccines.

Randy DouthitRandy Douthit has been collaborating with Judge Judy for over twenty years. Judge Judy Sheindlin presided over cases remotely, similar to how many non-televised court proceedings were moved to videoconferencing platforms.

Randy understands knowledge and speed are the two most essential factors in working during the pandemic. Randy has the experience to ensure the production runs without a hitch. He can solve any issue quickly and correctly the first time.
